BreakPoint labs is seeking a Network Engineer to support the High Performance Computing Modernization Program’s (HPCMP) provision of the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) and Secret DREN (SDREN), which provide DoD clients and partners access they need to accomplish their respective missions.

Responsibilities include:
- Perform system and network engineering and integration to accomplish project goals. This includes network systems design analysis, test plan development, and network and security system hardware installation.
- Apply lifecycle, enterprise, engineering, and technical expertise to develop, review and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), deployment/installation documentation (e.g. network diagrams, site surveys), regression testing plans, and production of contract deliverables and drawings.
- Review technical documentation such a test plans, technical manuals, technical procedures, drawings, etc., and provide comments and recommendations for acceptance, correction or improvement.
- Perform hands-on installation, hardening, and troubleshooting of network and system equipment to make improvements to the system and network.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of network performance and utilization analysis, to include troubleshooting when necessary.
- Perform technical studies and analysis based on specific requirements to improve system and network operation and enhance security posture for the network(s).
- Perform a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation.
- Strong attention to detail and the application of critical thinking/troubleshooting is necessary.
- The ability to communicate concisely and clearly, and the professional experience required to successfully work with minimal supervision in a team environment is required.

Required Experience:
- Two (2) or more years of relevant, technical experience in enterprise or data center environment
- Proficient in IPv4 and IPv6 routing, multicast, jumbo frame on network and firewall platforms.
- Working knowledge and experience with data center technologies, such as:
- UNIX/Linux command line
- Linux, Mac, and Windows OS.
- Local (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN).
- NAS and/or SAN storage technologies.
- Firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs.
- Network protocols, such as TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, etc.
- Network security, intrusion detection, and server monitoring.
- Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving network/system issues.
- CAC-authentication and other 2FA mechanisms.
- Familiarity with working as a liaison between vendor and contractor in support of client required.
- Familiarity with Palo Alto, F5, Gigamon, Juniper, Symantec,

Certifications Required: IAT Level II requirement (e.g. Security+ Continuing Education (CE) [CompTIA].)

Security Clearance: Secret
Education Level Bachelor's Degree: Area(s) of Study: Engineering, Computer Science or related scientific/technical discipline.
