As a Hardware development Intern at Axoft, you will be working side by side with the Electrical Engineering team as well as the Microfabrication and Pre-clinical team to develop system-level solutions for miniaturized brain-machine interfaces. This job will be on-site at our headquarter near Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA.

Key qualifications: 

  • Desire to work reliably with novel and complex processes where innovation and precision are equally important. 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related fields.  

  • Deep understanding for electronic circuits, advanced PCB manufacturing techniques and high-density miniaturized connectors.  

  • Proficiency in PCB design software e.g Altium, KiCAD and hands on PCB assembly and soldering experience.  

  • Proficiency in mechanical design software e.g Solidworks. 3D printing experience.  

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Master or higher program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related fields.  

  • Experience building electronics under strict power and size constraints. 

  • Experience with mainstream Electrophysiology systems from Intan Technolgies, Blackrock Microsystem 

  • Proficiency in embedded system programing language (e.g Verilog, VHDL, Python, C/C++)  

  • Experience working with microcontrollers and FPGA.  

Your responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate and report to the lead Electrical Engineer about the general progress and strategy for development. 

  • Support the design, manufacturing and implementation of electronic and mechanical components for the brain machine interface systems.  

  • Production of engineering documentation, processes, and workflows. 

  • Maintain good organizational relationships with other departments and engineering disciplines.
