Who We Are

Unit Labs is building the infrastructure for the next generation of global financial markets on Hyperliquid, the fastest-growing decentralized exchange and L1 blockchain.

We’re core contributors to the Unit Protocol, the asset layer for Hyperliquid, and the team behind trade[XYZ], the first and largest HIP-3 deployment on Hyperliquid. Unit powers Hyperliquid’s deepest spot markets for major crypto assets like BTC, ETH, and SOL. XYZ enables its most liquid 24/7 perpetual markets for equities, commodities, and FX. Since launch, our deployments have facilitated over $150B+ in volume across asset classes.

We’re a small but elite team that moves fast, values agency and intelligence, and works extremely hard towards our shared vision of bringing real value to the space.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help lead the development of our products and tools. This is a high-impact role touching everything from blockchain node operations and oracle pricing infrastructure to high-level architectural design of distributed systems.

You’ll work across our product lines, contributing to Unit Protocol infrastructure and the XYZ stack. Individual contribution here directly shapes products impacting significant and growing markets.

You should be able to work with autonomy, be extremely experienced in building distributed systems at scale, and have a demonstrated history of writing clean, well-tested code. We care greatly about our craft and want to work with others who share the same passion.

What You’ll Do

  • Core Protocol and Node Operations: Support our core cross-chain protocol backend (Go). Design and implement consensus mechanisms and indexing systems for complex on-chain data.

  • Oracle and Pricing Systems: Build and maintain oracles, relayers, and other infrastructure that enable 24/7 trading of global markets. Work on real-time data integrations, internal pricing mechanisms, and asset pricing computation systems.

  • Product and Backend Development: Take new products from conception through development and refine existing ones by building new features, integrations, and backend services. Design and build highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.

  • Frontend: Work with the frontend and design teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize the performance of user-facing, non-custodial applications.

  • Collaboration and Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of development projects. Work across the organization to drive new innovations.

Skills You Should Have

Our Stack: AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Prometheus, Grafana, Go, Python.

  • Work History: 5+ years building production distributed systems at scale, including asynchronous programming and networks.

  • Background: A Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related fields; alternatively, equivalent non-traditional experience demonstrating understanding of complex system architecture.

  • Programming Knowledge: Familiarity with Go or demonstrated expertise using other high-level languages; comfortable with operating systems, computer architecture, and low-level frameworks.

  • Proactivity: Demonstrated history of taking projects from 0 to 1, including writing code, testing, and deploying to cloud infrastructure.

  • Security Focused: Deep understanding of security practices and writing safe code.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members. Ability to document your work and explain your thought process.

Ideal Add Ons

  • Blockchain Experience (Unit Protocol): Experience working with major blockchain systems including Bitcoin, Solana, or Ethereum (or other EVM-based chains) and a deep understanding of how they work.

  • Trading Familiarity and DeFi Experience: Experience trading crypto or financial markets, preferably on decentralized platforms.

  • Oracle and Data Infrastructure (XYZ): Experience building or working with price feeds, data pipelines, or real-time data systems.

  • Open Source Contributions: Active involvement in open source projects, especially in blockchain or applied cryptography communities.

Location

We work together in person in either New York or Asia. We offer relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and equity in a high-potential startup

  • Work with serious and passionate team members who are the best at what they do
