Who We Are

Unit Labs is building the infrastructure for the next generation of global financial markets on Hyperliquid, the fastest-growing decentralized exchange and L1 blockchain.

We’re core contributors to the Unit Protocol, the asset layer for Hyperliquid, and the team behind trade[XYZ], the first and largest HIP-3 deployment on Hyperliquid. Unit powers Hyperliquid’s deepest spot markets for major crypto assets like BTC, ETH, and SOL. XYZ enables its most liquid 24/7 perpetual markets for equities, commodities, and FX. Since launch, our deployments have facilitated over $150B+ in volume across asset classes.

We’re a small but elite team that moves fast, values agency and intelligence, and works extremely hard towards our shared vision of bringing real value to the space.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to evolve and scale our infrastructure as we grow. You will be the first dedicated DevOps hire, defining and owning our DevOps function while working closely with all of engineering.

This is a high-impact role touching everything from blockchain node operations and oracle relay infrastructure to web infrastructure and internal treasury operations. Your focus is ensuring our node operations, oracle systems, and backend and frontend infrastructure scale with our ambition, while shaping and securing the infrastructure for novel financial primitives from the ground up. You should be able to work with autonomy, be extremely experienced with optimizing and securing highly performant systems.

We don’t care where you’ve worked or what school you went to, but we do care that you’ve helped secure and maintain performant, high-value systems. We care greatly about our craft and want to work with others who share the same passion.

What You’ll Do

  • Core Protocol and Node Operations: Support our core cross-chain protocol backend (Go) and maintain node infrastructure across several blockchain networks.

  • Oracle and Relay Infrastructure: Support our distributed Relayer systems that power XYZ assets on Hyperliquid. Ensure high availability and low latency for infrastructure that underpins 24/7 global market access.

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Design, provision, and manage cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS) using Terraform and Ansible. Maintain scalable, reproducible environments across development, staging, and production.

  • Containerization and Orchestration: Manage containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS). Ensure efficient scaling, load balancing, and resilience of our microservices and backend.

  • Monitoring and Incident Response: Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting using Prometheus/Grafana. Proactively watch system health and respond swiftly to incidents.

  • Developer Productivity: Enhance developer experience by managing dev/staging environments, optimizing local workflows, implementing CI/CD, and creating tooling that empowers engineers.

  • Security and Key Management: Enforce strong security best practices across all infrastructure and operations.

  • Collaboration and Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of infrastructure projects. Plan capacity, coordinate upgrades, and influence product architecture with an eye on reliability and scalability.

Skills You Should Have

Our Stack: AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Prometheus, Grafana, Go, Python.

  • Experience: 5+ years in a DevOps, SRE, or similar role managing production infrastructure at scale.

  • AWS and Infrastructure-as-Code: Hands-on experience with AWS and deep Terraform fluency, building modular, reusable configurations.

  • Configuration Management: Strong Ansible (or similar) experience. You can write playbooks/roles from scratch and handle complex multi-environment configs.

  • Linux, Networking, and Security: Strong understanding of Linux internals, performance tuning, networking, and system hardening.

  • Containerization and K8s: Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes in a production setting.

  • Scripting Ability: Ability to develop custom tooling or scripts to extend CI/CD pipelines, handle data, or glue systems together.

  • Monitoring: Hands-on experience with observability and log management. You’ve used tools like Prometheus/Grafana to instrument systems and diagnose issues.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members. Ability to document your work and explain your thought process.

Ideal Add Ons

  • Blockchain/DeFi Experience: Familiarity with blockchain nodes or running validator infrastructure like Ethereum, Bitcoin, or Solana nodes.

  • Real-Time Data Systems: Experience operating low-latency data pipelines, price feeds, or similar real-time infrastructure.

  • Secure Key Management: Experience managing cryptographic keys and secrets. Knowledge of MPC or threshold signature schemes is a bonus.

  • Web Application Infrastructure: Experience deploying and scaling Web3 or traditional web apps (Node.js/TypeScript, SPAs, CDN configurations, etc.).

  • Open Source Contributions: Active involvement in open source projects, especially in the DevOps, SRE, or blockchain communities.
