Themis is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our growing and fully distributed engineering team. In this role, you will manage teams of software engineers as we continue to build out our compliance solution for fintechs. This role is for you if you are looking for an opportunity to solve scaling challenges of a new startup and are interested in getting your hands dirty developing.

What You'll Do

  • Actively recruit great and diverse engineering talent

  • Continually help improve our onboarding program to set new engineers up for early and lasting success

  • Manage multiple teams of high-performing engineers as they develop Themis

  • Establish asynchronous collaboration patterns across the organization to remove friction from day to day engineering

  • Collaborate with internal Product and Design to plan upcoming feature development

  • Lead by example to foster a culture of autonomy, innovation, and ownership

What You'll Need

  • Experience managing an organization of ~20+ employees including engineering managers

  • Exceptional ability to recruit and retain talented engineers

  • Technical expertise to navigate our system architecture: meaningful experience with Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, containerized services (Kubernetes), Postgres, etc.

  • Passion for building driving engineering productivity through tooling and process

  • Strong project management experience with the ability to understand and deliver on key operational, financial, and strategic goals

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
