About the Role
Our Bridgeton, NJ manufacturing plant is looking for a qualified “hands-on” Maintenance Technician / Boiler Operator to join our growing team. In this role, the Maintenance Technician will perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain our production machines and the plant facility's equipment, which is especially critical as we implement and scale our manufacturing processes. Under the direction of our Bridgeton Site Lead, this team member will also maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines. Ideal candidates must be excited to work in laboratory, “pilot plant” conditions as we grow and expand our manufacturing footprint, as well as able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes that occur on the production line. Responsibilities

  • Basic understanding of PLC systems (Rockwell Automation, Panelview)

  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler systems and glycol systems

  • Experience using shop tools, hand tools and power tools and measuring devices 

  • Experience with start-up and shutdown of manufacturing equipment

  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines regarding safety practices

  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to machinery and equipment

  • Able to read and understand mechanical (equipment) and architectural (building) drawings

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear

  • Capacity to manipulate small parts and items accurately

  • Comfortable working closely to chemicals, as well as strict adherence to careful handling and storage of such chemicals

  • Other duties as assigned by plant leadership

Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed High Pressure Black Seal 

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in a food processing environment or similar GMP required business 

  • Ability to follow food safety, quality, and hygiene rules of the facility

  • Experience safely operating large-scale plant equipment and training others on the operation of such equipment

  • Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance and building construction techniques

  • Knowledge of food processing equipment including, but not limited to, boilers, water heaters, sanitary pumps, sanitary valves and packaging equipment

  • Strong working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines regarding safety practices

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic machinery and equipment like motors, pneumatic equipment, pumps, mixers, fillers sealers, grinders, conveyor systems and chillers

  • Proficient understanding of mechanical assembly 

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for machinery and equipment using both technical knowledge and critical thinking skills

  • Assist in proper storage of incoming parts as well as keeping parts storage organized

  • Patience with others when explaining and showing how to do or operate things

  • Able to work with minimal oversight at times, able to confidently handle situations on their own

  • Able to lift 50 lbs and walk/stand for long periods of time

  • Able to push/pull large equipment such as product carts and mixer tanks

  • Able to work in hot and cold environments.

  • Able to work around gluten and soy

Pay Rate & Frequency

  • Bi-weekly

  • $35.00 - $38.00 per hour, depending on experience

Back-up Role
In the absence of a Maintenance Technician, an alternate Maintenance Technician would step in to fulfill these job duties. In the absence of another Maintenance Technician, the Site Lead would fulfill all jobs duties for which she/he is certified. Without a black-seal certified Maintenance Technician onsite, specific worksite activities will cease. The Site Lead is responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of these activities.
