Scientist (Associate/I/II)- Antibody Engineering

As a Scientist on our Antibody Engineering team, you’ll drive the design, development, and testing of therapeutic molecules. We’re primarily focused on the Associate, Scientist I, and Scientist II levels.

The Company and Team

Prox Biosciences is a venture-backed, early-stage biotech company developing targeted biologics. Our platform integrates high-throughput experimental and computational methods to rapidly design and develop antibodies that deliver the right signal to the right cell. Prox was founded by awesome academic and industry scientists across UCSF, Alloy Therapeutics, Stanford, Penn, and MIT.

The Role

Prox is excited to bring onboard an innovative, self-motivated scientist to drive the discovery and engineering of antibody-based therapeutics. In this role, you will have exceptional agency to design and engineer new multifunctional biologics. As an early team member of Prox, you will help us achieve critical milestones and guide the company’s trajectory. This role offers independence, creativity, and opportunity for rapid growth alongside an ambitious trajectory for Prox. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the immunology and computational teams to design antibody constructs and downstream experiments

  • Engineering and producing antibodies, internally and in collaboration with external CROs, using transient production protocols and structural/sequence analysis tools

  • Designing, developing, and using novel and licensed in vitro phage and yeast display technologies for antibody discovery and optimization

About You

  • You want to create new therapeutics. You have experience contributing to the development of therapeutic antibodies through protein engineering efforts. You are excited to apply and hone this expertise at Prox.

  • You never stop learning. You are driven by the opportunity to broaden your skills beyond your initial area(s) of expertise and have experience quickly learning and executing in new areas of science.

  • You excel as part of a mission-oriented team. You are looking for more line-of-sight and agency to build new therapeutics and want to make an outsized impact. You’re not afraid to offer your perspective and ask questions.

  • You’re inspired by the work. You are intrinsically motivated by the work and demonstrate strong work ethic, strong time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

How You’ll Drive Impact

  • Establish: You will collaborate with the team to establish a top-notch R&D organization that can execute key assays, protocols, and workflows to generate critical data packages. This includes procuring reagents, validating protocols, and standardizing workflows related to antibody discovery, antibody engineering, protein sciences, and therapeutic validation.

  • Execute: You will drive science forward. This includes extensive lab work including mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, antibody discovery, antibody purification, antibody profiling, and other immunological and protein engineering protocols. This also includes collaborating and managing CRO engagement to execute other critical R&D activities.

  • Innovate: You will have ownership and agency around our science and our therapeutic pipeline, empowering you to innovate and drive direction in collaboration with our team. You will engage the broader scientific community, synthesize emerging science, and use your expertise to help build exceptional therapeutic molecules.

Qualifications

Qualifications vary by desired level.

  • Ph.D. with 0-5 years industry experience or B.S./M.S. with 2-10 years industry experience in biochemistry, bioengineering, structural biology or related disciplines.

  • Proven technical skills in the lab in antibody discovery, engineering, and protein sciences as demonstrated by scientific publications, industry experience, and references.

  • Experience designing and/or executing in vitro antibody discovery protocols.

  • Experience designing and/or producing mono/bi/trispecific antibodies.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills enabling you to effectively present results, synthesize conclusions, and identify action items with the team.

  • Optimistic interpersonal skills that allow you to build strong relationships with the team and contribute to a positive, empowering team culture.

  • Highly motivated and entrepreneurial candidates are encouraged to apply.

What we need to hire you

  • Ability to work in the lab in Kendall Square

  • Ability to travel (<10% of the time) to conferences or events
