Background
Practice is an award-winning boutique agency that brings new brands to market and reintroduces existing ones through bold repositioning and pivots. We've helped brands like Ritual, Remedy, and Glowbar go from zero to a hundred, and our work has been featured in Fast Company, Forbes, It's Nice That, Brand New, Refinery29, Creative Boom, and more.
We're looking for a mid-level designer to join our team, support us as we launch new brands, and learn the brand-building process firsthand. You're earlier in your career, but excited to learn more about the brand building process and to support your team.
As a designer, you'll use design as a storytelling tool to bring new brands to life. Working within an interdisciplinary team, you'll help translate identities to marketing materials, print and collateral, packaging systems, and websites. You'll get direct exposure to how brand vision becomes a compelling narrative across every touchpoint, and support our clients through the real, exciting process of building, launching, and growing their brands.
You are
A visual communicator eager to learn how brands are built from the ground up
Comfortable working in a small team (you'll be one of 6 to 7)
Open to feedback and excited to grow your craft alongside senior designers and design leads
Proactive and energized by creative problem-solving; no task too big or small
Versatile across digital and print output: websites, packaging, and collateral
What you'll bring
Some graphic design experience, whether from an agency, in-house team, freelance work, or school projects
A portfolio showing design work across a few different formats or mediums
Solid foundations in typography, layout, and color
Willingness to move between execution and learning strategy, from production work to brand thinking
Junior-level candidates are welcome to apply if you have experience in both web design (built out by a developer team) and print design (produced, physical packaging)
Skills & Tools
Figma (essential)
Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
Interest in AI tools like Kive, Flora, and Claude
Interest in learning print production (die lines, packaging specs, prepress)
Requirements
Native or fluent English
Based in the NYC metro area at least 80% of the year
Willing to work onsite in an open-plan office (local team members are onsite Tuesdays and Thursdays)
As part of the interview process, you'll walk us through a project you've worked on, even if it wasn't a full launch
No degree required; this is a mid-level, earlier-career-friendly role, though juniors with the web/print experience above are also encouraged to apply
