We’re looking for our managing editor’s right hand, charged with shaping high-level editorial strategy for the company, and bringing in new writers. A demanding job for highly-creative former disgruntled English majors looking to actually make an impact (you don’t really need an English degree (we genuinely don’t even care if you went to college)).

• Work with the managing editor on editorial strategy, pipeline, and workflow

• Source and work with new writers — the key piece here, as we’re looking for someone capable of really owning an entire major branch of our coverage

• Develop story ideas for and with staff writers, contributors, managing editor, and EIC 

• Fact-check, proofread, edit, and occasionally perform surgery on content before publication

• Write and program for our social media accounts

• Pitch and write your own pieces

• Be on-call during off-hours when there’s an opportunity to jump on a story 

• Always be surfacing the weird, fascinating, and exciting new trends in information (drama)
