About NeuroBionics
NeuroBionics, an MIT neurotechnology spinout, is developing novel implantable devices that interface seamlessly with the human body to treat neurological conditions. Leveraging over a decade of innovation, we have engineered a novel neural interface using microscale, flexible, bioelectronic fibers that can be delivered into the body through minimally invasive endovascular approaches. By making neural interfacing a minimally invasive procedure, we aim to revolutionize deep brain stimulation and broaden access to life-changing neuromodulation therapies to millions of patients.
About the Role:
NeuroBionics is hiring an Operations Manager to be the operational backbone of our growing team. As our first dedicated operations hire, you'll own the operational core: HR, payroll, benefits, onboarding, procurement, accounts payable, and vendor relationships. You'll support our lab facilities and safety and help plan the space we grow into. You’ll serve as the internal hub connecting our bookkeeper, fractional CFO, and HR advisor. As the team grows, you'll build the systems and rhythm that keep everyone moving, and you'll take operational work off the founders so they can focus on strategy, fundraising, and the science.
This is a hands-on, generalist role for someone who likes being involved across the whole company, operates with real autonomy, and takes pride in building order in a fast-moving environment.
What you’ll do: Duties and responsibilities
People operations: Run payroll, onboarding, and benefits administration; draft and implement HR policies (with support from our HR advisor); be the team's first point of contact for people-ops questions.
Finance operations: Own procurement, accounts payable, vendor management and contracts, capital and long-lead equipment purchasing (POs, lead times, capex), and transaction coding; be the inside contact for our bookkeeper so operational activity is captured accurately.
Quality support: Support our Quality team on the operational side of the quality system (training records, controlled purchasing, calibration scheduling), without owning the QMS.
Systems & process: Maintain and refine the systems the team runs on (meeting cadence, documentation, communications, onboarding, and workflows) and improve them over time.
Vendor & facilities coordination: Manage vendor and contract relationships and coordinate lab-space and facilities needs (with support), keeping the team's environment running smoothly.
Operational backbone: Operate independently within a defined scope, resolve issues at your level, and keep the team and founders focused by absorbing operational complexity rather than passing it along.
Qualifications:
Required:
~5 years of operations experience, ideally in a startup or small-company environment.
Hands-on with the operational core: payroll and HR administration, and/or finance operations (AP, procurement, transaction coding, vendor management).
Track record of building or standing up processes and systems, not just running mature ones.
Highly organized and independent; comfortable owning decisions and setting boundaries.
Integrity handling sensitive payroll, compensation, and HR information.
Able to work on-site 4-5 days/week
Preferred:
Comfortable in a regulated or controlled environment (medical device, lab, or similar), including the operational side of a quality system and basic lab safety/EHS.
Lab or facilities operations and capital-equipment procurement.
Has helped a founder hand off finance and operations and built the trust to make that work.
(nice to have) HR / People-ops background (can work with our HR consultant and run HR, payroll, and benefits).
What we offer:
Mission-driven, collaborative team solving a high-impact problem
Competitive and experience-guided compensation (and equity for full-time roles)
3 weeks flexible PTO + 1.5 week company shutdown
Comprehensive benefits plan including
Health, dental and vision insurance covered at 100%
Health Reimbursement Account
Parental & Medical Leave
Life and Long-term Disability insurance
401(k)
Health & wellness benefit
Opportunity to learn and work for a fast-growing, VC-backed, MIT-spinoff on one of the most impactful problems that can change lives
