Mantel is looking for a Molten Salt Engineer excited to join a promising carbon capture startup working on the development of molten salts as a novel CO2 sorbent material. The position will be required to interface with external suppliers and contractors regarding the design and build of demonstration and commercial carbon capture facilities. Initial tasks will include basic engineering and detailed design, with a focus on structural material selection, and molten salt system and component design. The ideal candidate has experience with technology development, testing, and operation in an industrial setting and is an excellent verbal and written communicator. Mantel is looking for a problem solver who can think outside the box and works well both independently and in a team environment.
Education: Undergraduate degree in Materials Science or equivalent. Additional education is considered a plus but not required.
Previous experience with molten salts, high temperature material selection, corrosion, carbon capture and thermal system design is highly desirable. Concentrated solar experience is a plus.
Location: Boston based, requires work in a Cambridge lab/office space.
