Operations Engineer (DevOps)

We are looking for an Operations Engineer to help grow and support our cloud-based systems.  This role is well suited to strong Linux System Administrators who are transitioning into DevOps or Linux-focused DevOps Engineers interested in problem solving in a new, fast-paced environment.

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with other teams (Software Development, Communications, etc) in text-based and voice/video call scenarios to support business objectives.

  • Build and configure solutions using Linux virtual machines, containers, various other cloud resources as necessary.

  • Identify and help improve areas of inefficiency.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure system availability.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Linux usage, administration, troubleshooting

  • Proficient with cloud based technologies (AWS preferred)

  • Automation using tools such as Ansible, AWS CloudFormation

  • Scripting (bash, and _at least_ one additional language)

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking

  • Ability and desire to learn new skills and technologies

  • Excellent communication skills

Desired Skills:

  • Experience identifying and solving scaling problems

  • Experience supporting applications written in Erlang and/or Rust

  • Experience monitoring with Grafana+Prometheus stack

  • Experience with usage, administration of FreeBSD systems

  • Familiarity with IoT (Internet of Things) and/or Wireless Telecom networks

  • Familiarity with blockchain technology

  • Familiarity with GitHub (workflows, Actions, permissions, ...)
