Global Press is reimagining the field of international journalism by building representative news bureaus staffed by local women reporters in undercovered media markets. A non-profit news organization, Global Press has trained 250 journalists and operates 37 news bureaus around the world. This position is an exciting leadership opportunity to scale up a new social enterprise within Global Press, Global Press News Services (GPNS).

GPNS offers B2B products and services created based on Global Press’ 16 years of expertise producing dignified and precise international journalism and safeguarding the wellness of a global corps of reporters.  Since 2020, GPNS has demonstrated rapid revenue growth and compelling market traction, priming it for swift expansion.

GPNS offers services in language equity, representative photojournalism and journalist security to businesses, foundations, and government agency clients around the world. Drawing insights from the Global Press Style Guide, GPNS helps clients integrate dignity and precision into their operations and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). GPNS also offers clients access to its one-of-a-kind global photo archive. And GPNS leverages its industry-leading Duty-of-Care Program to train clients to care for their workforces.

The Managing Director of GPNS will be the lead strategist, innovator, and builder of this growing enterprise, ensuring that GPNS meets its revenue targets, further develops a mission-aligned business and sets an example for sustainable growth in the news industry. The successful candidate will be a seasoned entrepreneur, with experience growing a business. This position reports to the COO of Global Press.

GPNS has recently secured a capital infusion to fund the next stage of growth, and the Managing Director will hire and oversee a team of direct reports. This is an opportunity to build a thriving enterprise positioned for success in two rapidly growing global markets—DEI and workforce safety and security. This is also a rare opportunity to demonstrate the success of a new revenue model for journalism.   • Develop packaging and pricing strategies that enhance revenue from all services.

  • Design client marketing strategies for each product segment

  • Create staffing, training and onboarding strategies to ensure representative consultants deliver products across global markets

  • Ensure services are market-leading; troubleshoot issues; anticipate, identify and form solutions to problems that arise

  • Transform GPNS into a leading DEI and Duty of Care consultancy

  • Ensure that GPNS remains a mission-aligned business

  • Observe and track market trends and ensure GPNS adapts thoughtfully YoY

  • Establish a brand identity for GPNS and oversee all global advertising and marketing, and increase the brand presence in the DEI and Duty of Care space

  • Collaborate with other divisions of Global Press to determine opportunities for service growth 

Client Development

  • Develop sales objectives and ensure GPNS meets all revenue targets YoY

  • Secure clients across foundations, non-profits, businesses, and government agencies

  • Contribute to and manage oversight of sales strategy and tools, including Salesforce CRM to support the sales process and client management


  • Provide accurate forecasts of monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue

  • Hire, lead, and enable an Accounts Manager to support exceptional client engagement and service delivery

  • Hire, lead and enable a team of exceptional consultants and trainers to implement all GPNS services and bring strategic opportunities to the enterprise

  • Manage the GPNS budget for all service lines and GPNS operational expenses. 

  • Develop innovative new advertising and marketing strategies

Professional Experience

The successful candidate should have:

  • At least 10 years of experience operating businesses, leading business development, or providing consulting services

  • Experience starting and/or scaling businesses and developing strategic growth plans

  • Significant experience building and managing budgets

  • Experience managing sales and marketing teams and with CRM systems

  • Ability to analyze market trends and identify new market and client opportunities

  • Experience serving the DEI or workplace safety and security industries a plus

  • Experience in the media industry a plus
