Role
The Gencores’ team seeks a mission-driven Senior Material Scientist to join our research and development team. You will be part of a fast-growing, interdisciplinary team of outstanding scientists and engineers working closely together to structure and process our new composite metamaterials.
Your essential responsibilities:
Conduct research to control the mechanisms enabling the creation of Gencores’ unique and highly structured metamaterials
Design, produce, and characterize metamaterials using a suite of state-of-the-art characterization tools
Collaborate with software, hardware, and multi-scale optimization teams to improve end-part quality, function, and performance
Invent, shape, and document developments to promote innovation and company growth
Keep developments on track, balancing speed and scientific rigor within budget
Your experience or skills:

Passionate about multi-scale material and systems design
Able to interact with the material and the equipment to improve product performance
Strong understanding of physics and knowledgeable about chemistry.
Experienced with formulating or doping a wide range of high-performance resins, films, adhesives, foams, or other plastics.
Strong competency in ASTM testing and data analysis for linear and non-linear mechanics at room and elevated temperatures using Instron or similar testers, DSC, DMA, rheology, X-ray tomography, and more
Experience with data analytics using existing software or programming (Python, JMP, Minitab, Tableau)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Our preferred qualifications:
Ph.D. in Materials Science and engineering or equivalent experience gained outside of academia
Knowledge of processes such as mixing, extrusion, and formation of foams
Experience in scaling up material processing from lab to pilot scale, or higher
Experience with polymer chemistry is a valuable plus
