As Checkmate.live gears up for launch, we are seeking expressions of interest for the role of Community & Fair Play Admins. We are on the lookout for individuals who are passionate about chess, skilled in community engagement and committed to maintaining fair play. If you're keen to accelerate online speed chess as an esport and foster a positive community from anywhere in the world, we want to hear from you.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor online chess matches to ensure adherence to the Laws of Chess and Checkmate.live’s Fair Play policy.

  • Manage player check-ins for tournaments, ensuring punctuality and a smooth progression of events.

  • Provide support for player issues during tournaments, with a protocol for escalating complex issues.

  • Engage with the chess community on platforms such as Discord, promoting a tolerant atmosphere with a touch of friendly competitiveness 

  • Review tournament outcomes, Fairplay complaints, and any incidents of misconduct using the Checkmate Fairplay module.

  • Escalate Tier 1 (T1) and Tier 2 (T2) incidents to the Checkmate Fairplay team.

  • Assist in planning and scheduling events, well-versed in tournament formats like Swiss, Round Robin, and Knockout

Work Arrangement:

  • This is a work-from-home position with flexible shifts ranging from 4-8 hours.

  • The main team is based in Sydney Australia, your location must have a 2-hour overlap between 9am-6pm so you can link in for team meetings.

Equipment Required:

  • Desktop computer with stable internet connection.

  • Webcam and the capability to stream video for monitoring and communication purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older, in compliance with our content and community guidelines.

  • Residency or citizenship in one of the specified regions: Asia and Oceania, North and South America, Europe and the Middle East, GCC and Turkey.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Laws of Chess, fair play regulations, and FIDE Regulations for chess competitions.

  • Proficiency with community engagement tools such as Discord.

  • Fluent in English and proficient in chess terminology; additional languages such as Arabic, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, or Hindi are highly advantageous.

  • Technological proficiency with online gaming platforms and communication tools.

Preferred:

  • Not essential but Ideally a FIDE Arbiter title or progress towards obtaining such certification.

  • Experience in chess tournament organization or competitive play.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to consent to a police background check at the final selection round. This step is crucial to ensure that Checkmate. live’s Fair Play protocols are upheld and our community remains a safe and trustworthy environment for all players. Successful candidates will be asked to provide the necessary information for this background check.

Remote restrictions

  • Workday must overlap by at least 3 hours with Sydney NSW, Australia
