Bladework Games is a new game studio building a brand new living, online, cooperative multiplayer IP for the PC first and cross platform future. We're creating a new take on the ARPG genre, focusing on exciting combat, meaningful cooperative play, and the creation of a truly fun gameplay experience.

We're looking for someone who will leverage their technical expertise & leadership experience to implement the strategies required to successfully launch & maintain a living online multiplayer experience.

As our Technical Director, you will be managing how our day-to-day engineering processes play out, problem solving with our tech team, identifying areas for efficiency & improvement, and helping scope out our technical roadmaps.

If this sounds appealing to you, we'd love to chat.

  • Provide a clear vision for our architectural approach

  • Get hands-on and help lay the foundation so we're not paying for it years down the line

  • Context switch as necessary to balance between being an implementer and leader

  • Lead and scale the engineering team to an appropriate size

  • Move the project forward while respecting others opinions and avoiding micromanagement

  • Drive infrastructure, tools, and processes that’ll be key to success in LiveOps

Who You Are

  • Someone with meaningful experience with Unreal Engine and its networking

  • 10+ years of experience in game development

  • 2+ shipped titles in tech lead or tech director positions

  • 1+ shipped title on a fast-paced online multiplayer game

  • You know "enough" across multiple areas of importance (ie. frontend, backend, cert, combat, art pipeline, etc) to anchor discussions

  • You are willing to dig into challenges where there isn't an expert and propose solutions in a way that helps grow the team

  • You won’t do it alone, you’ll get to know the strengths of your team and you’ll work with the right people to build the right solutions

  • You have a proven history of leading technical teams through change, either through hardware generations, design shifts, or other major upheavals.
