Axoft is seeking a motivated and passionate neuroscientist / neuroengineer who thrives to work in a fast-paced research environment. The neuroscientist / neuroengineer will work directly with a team of engineers fabricating novel brain-machine interfaces, perform and analyze neural recordings. Jobs at Axoft are multidisciplinary and depending on the needs you may work on various aspects of the projects, including neural data interpretation, performing surgery on animals, analyzing histological results. We expect the candidate to grow with the company and future responsibility of the neuroscientist / neuroengineer will include orchestrating the in-house animal experiments and collaborating with CROs. As an early-stage company, we are looking for candidates willing to have a strong impact on the company’s development with the opportunity for growth.

Key qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in neurosciences, biomedical engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of academic or industry experience working with research animals including, but not limited to, rodents, porcine models, and/or monkey models.

  • Experience in analyzing extracellular electrophysiological neuron recordings captured with microelectrode arrays (e.g. spike detection, spike sorting, ML algorithms).

  • Experience in neural implants surgery, neuromodulation therapies, neuroprosthetics, or other related neurotechnologies.

  • Experience with immune staining, biological imaging, and related data analysis.

  • Proficiency with Matlab, Python or C++

  • Be a dedicated team leader who thrives in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Relevant managerial or leadership experience.

  • Experience developing behavior studies in animal models.

  • Experience with machine learning algorithms to correlate behavior to neural signals

  • Experience in writing surgery protocols.

  • Experience working with animal facilities.

Your responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and report to the executive team about the general progress and strategy for animal studies.

  • Perform and analyze long term electrophysiological recordings on animals.

  • Design behavioral tests for animals.

  • Production of experimental documents, processes, and workflows.

  • Maintain good organizational relationships with other departments and engineering disciplines.

  • Grow into being a future team leader.
