Product Development Director  

 Axoft is building the most advanced and scalable platform for implantable brain-machine interfaces. Our mission is to enable long-term stable and ultra-high bandwidth communication with the brain, opening new therapies and treatments against neurological disorders and physical disabilities. We are seeking a Product Development Director to guide the development of our next-generation brain-machine interface. This is an extraordinary opportunity to join our core team to help to shape the future of our company. This position will be on-site at our headquarters near Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA.

As the Product Development Director, you will report directly to CEO and CTO and oversee the development effort of the engineering team while serving as a bridge between the R&D teams and Business Development. You will use your expertise to make sure their fast-paced progress is meeting the planned milestone; the research direction is aligned with final product development goal and all development happens under the rigorous compliant framework.

  • You love multi-disciplinary environments and thrive when working with various teams of engineers and scientists. 

  • You are ingenious and independent but know how to leverage the experience of your team. 

Key qualifications: 

  • 5+ years' experience as director or engineering manager in a medical device company (Class II or III implants preferred).  

  • Strong engineering background with solid understanding of the technologies involved in building a brain machine interface system, including implant, electronics, surgery, software, etc.  

  • Familiarity with Medical Device product development regulations and compliances, able to supervise R&D progress within the QMS framework.  

  • Track record of delivering results under fast-paced timelines and strict budget.  

  • Excellent communication and people management skills. 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • 7+ years’ experience as director or engineering manager in a medical device company.  

  • Experience developing brain implants or other class III medical devices.  

  • Track record for managing parallel development pathways including technology development, clinical development and regulatory development.  

  • Experience in orchestrating efforts for FDA and ISO audits.  

  • Deep understanding of neurotechnology and current trend of Brain Machine Interface systems.  

 

Your responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate and report directly to the CEO and CTO about the general progress of engineering development.  

  • Supervise engineering efforts and ensure steady progress meeting milestone plans.  

  • Align engineering directions with the final goal of product development team.  

  • Work together with QMS and regulatory team to ensure compliance of technical development.
