As the Embedded System and Firmware Engineer at Axoft, you will be working in the electrical engineering team and side by side with process engineers and veterinary surgeons to build solutions to implement our ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interface systems. You will be responsible for building electronic systems (e.g. customized PCB, FPGA programing), developing data acquisition and storage software (e.g Labview, Python) and assisting other team members for successful implementation. Experience working with ASIC or Electrophysiology Electronics are strongly preferred.

Key qualifications: 

  • Desire to work reliably with novel and complex processes where innovation and precision are equally important. 

  • B.S/M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or other related fields.  

  • 3+ years of work experience in related industries. 

  • Solid understanding of analog/digital circuit design and signal processing.  

  • Proficiency in hardware design software (e.g Altium, KiCAD) and programing language (e.g Verilog, VHDL, Python, C/C++)  

  • Experience working with Microcontroller and FPGA.  

  • Familiarity with standard communication protocols including UART/SPI/I2C.  

  • High attention to detail and a phenomenal work ethic. Excellent communication skills.  

Preferred qualifications: 

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in the relevant disciplines 

  • 5+ years of work experience in related industries. 

  • FPGA and microcontroller programing experience for high-speed data storage and processing solutions.  

  • Experience building electronics under strict power and size constraints.  

  • Experience building wireless system with standard communication protocols (BLE, WIFI).  

  • Experience with mainstream Electrophysiology systems from Intan Technolgies, Blackrock Microsystems.  

  • Working experience in medical device company.  

Your responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate and report to the CTO about the general progress and strategy for hardware system development. 

  • Work together with electrical engineering team to develop system level solutions for ultra-high bandwidth neural signal acquisition, storage, transmission and processing.  

  • Production of engineering documentation, processes, and workflows. 

  • Maintain good organizational relationships with other departments and engineering disciplines.
