Sales Director

Amide Technologies is a Cambridge-based biotech company focused on synthesizing peptides that are difficult to obtain through existing means, bridging the gap between traditional solid phase peptide synthesis and biological expression. By using unnatural amino acids and artificial protein backbones, our team is expanding possibilities in peptide drug design.

Amide is seeking an experienced Sales Director who will play a key role in developing, refining, and executing Amide’s commercial strategy.  The Sales Director will drive engagements with potential clients and partners and will have primary tactical  responsibility to expand new and existing client relationships and drive revenue as per Amide’s commercial strategy.

The Sales Director will be supported by a team of functional experts in science, machine learning, operations, legal and finance. The Sales Director will have tactical responsibility for the company’s deal-making, provide leadership and frequent communication to the management team on market trends, and execute a strategy that will allow the company to fulfill its scientific/technology mission and build shareholder value.  This will initially be an individual contributor role, with the expectation that the Sales Director will ultimately build and lead a team of sales professionals as the market develops for Amide’s products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Growth: Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth, both within the US and international markets

  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with existing clients, and identify opportunities to further engage and provide value

  • Internal Relationship Management:  Cultivate a strong and effective partnership with R&D teams to evaluate potential new products and services, integrating a commercial perspective early in the research and development process

  • Market Analysis: Monitor the protein synthesis market to identify emerging trends, competition, and potential external innovation/partnership opportunities with academia and industry to expand commercial opportunities

  • Sales Forecasting: Produce regular sales forecasts and reports, tracking the sales team’s performance against targets

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Marketing, and Product Development, to ensure alignment in achieving company goals

  • Travel: Frequently travel to client locations, industry conferences, and other relevant events to represent the company and cultivate sales leads (up to 50% travel)

Requirements

  • BS/MS in relevant scientific discipline required, advanced degree and/or MBA preferred

  • 5+ years of relevant business development and commercial experience in Biotech/Pharma

  • Scientific and regulatory understanding of development of pharmaceutical products

  • Strong current network in the Biotech/Pharma industry

  • Proven ability to thrive in the dynamic environment of a start-up

  • Strategic and innovative thinker with broad business experience

  • Excellent leadership skills, with solid judgment and decision-making capabilities

  • Strong desire to work both strategically and hands-on as part of a committed and dedicated team

  • Solution-oriented individual with both high integrity and entrepreneurial mind-set

  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences

The position is full time and ideally the individual will be based at the company’s headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.  Flexibility with regard to working hours and travel is required.  The Sales Director will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
